My Art Therapy Journey

This is a picture of the ceiling in our “breakfast nook.”

Yesterday a piece of the ceiling was removed

The other day when I noticed our ceiling coming apart, I realized we had a leak.

What you see is the floor to our second story and pipes that transport water from upstairs.

Nobody could figure out where the leak was coming from.

The plumber came and took a guess.  He dismantled our toilet…

…but his guess was wrong.  We then had a bad leak in addition to no toilet.

He wouldn’t reinstall our toilet without charging us $750 dollars to fix it because it hadn’t originally been installed “to code,” even though that’s not where the leak was from.

I told the plumber to leave.  Without re-installing the toilet, thank you.

My husband had the friend that helped remodel our house come over to find the source of the problem.

They fixed it while I was at book club.  All better.

This morning my husband took a shower.  And I took a bath.

…When I fell into the slip-and-slide on the breakfast nook floor.

It’s still leaking.  We think we know it’s from the shower.  But the leak is a mystery.

THIS IS A PICTURE OF ME.

I have a leak.

It happens sometimes after I put my daughter down for a nap.

The water comes from someplace deep inside my soul…and leaves a path that is hard to trace.

I’m not sure if I will ever find the true source of tears.

And if I do…if it will be repairable.

The questions and concerns grow as I sit…exposed.

It’s hard to believe I am here.

No…it’s really hard to believe I am here.

Today was a rough one.  It didn’t go down smooth.  You know you need to put the flashers on and call for backup when the first thing you wake up to is a no-show refrigerator repair man (who intentionally blocks his phone number and leaves you with no means of contacting him after you miss his call) who you’ve anticipated for over a week.  But he did leave his name…I’m sorry to all the Pete’s I meet for the rest of my life who I just seem to not like for some reason now.

But really, today was so bad I’m not really going to say too much about it because I’m afraid to get it going again after it has just nearly ended.   Just try to believe me when I say it was over more than just not having cold milk.

It was a little more life and death than that.  At least for me.

But I am still coming through on my word.  I took these photos today.  I’m proud of myself that I haven’t had to resort to digging into photo reserves to keep this blog alive.

I’m trying to keep from having to go there…because there’s not a whole lot of reserves for me right now.  So, I’m always so thankful for the light that’s there for me everyday, even on the days I just want to be over…forever.

Mary and Max.  I might be the last person on the face of this planet to watch this film,  seeing as how there are 1,250,000 views on YouTube of  its original trailer (and at least two handfuls of awards!).  But for the chance that I’m not the last one, I’m compelled to share about it here. [And if you haven’t seen it, then I am sure you are not the last one either.  But you might want to look this one up to be sure you don’t become that person!]

Ok, so I really liked it.  I’m not a great reviewer, but I am fantastic at exclaiming, “You must see this!”     I have to admit that I didn’t see a few parts because I had to run out of the room for other things a few times, but the film was so good that I plan on watching the whole thing again just to catch the small bits I missed.  There is also the chance that I’m adoring  Mary and Max so much because they got me/my life so well in certain ways.  So if you watch it and don’t like it, don’t blame me.  You’ve been informed.  And me/my life is not always completely normal. ; )    Make of it what you will!

As a disclaimer I would say this is an animation I would definitely reserve for adult, or at least mature teen viewers. It’s not exactly one to pop in for the kids on Saturday morning cartoon fest. ; )

FYI: I watched Mary and Max on Netflix, so if you have access to their  instant streaming movies you’re in luck!

I’d love to hear if you’ve already seen this, or if you haven’t… what you thought about it after you’ve had the chance!
